Lawn Pest Control

There are two main lawn pests, the leather jacket, which is the larvae of the daddy long legs and the chaffer grub, which is the larvae of a beetle. They both live in the top few centimetres of soil under the lawn and they eat the roots of the grass plant.

In severe cases the turf can be lifted up like a rug! A tell tail sign of them is birds pecking on the lawn. In Heswall recently we have even experienced terrible destruction caused by badgers digging for them!

Worms can cause problems by casting on the turf, we don’t recommend harming the worms as they effectively aerate the root zone, though we can apply a suppressant that forces them down from the surface and prevents them casting.
